What to check on a used excavator
A few things worth checking before you inquire on a used excavator:
Hours and usage
Operating hours are a useful indicator, but they're most meaningful together with the machine's age, condition, maintenance information, and the work you intend to use it for. Each listing shows the hours meter reading where the seller has provided it — send an inquiry through JMT if you'd like more detail before deciding.
Undercarriage
Undercarriage and track wear is one of the more significant cost factors on a crawler excavator. Review the listing's photos and condition notes carefully, and contact JMT if you need clarification on undercarriage condition before inquiring further.
Hydraulics
Visible leakage, cylinder condition, and overall hydraulic function are worth checking closely, alongside any condition notes the seller has provided. Not every listing includes a formal hydraulic test, so ask JMT if this matters for your intended use.
